Review: Spartan & The Green Egg by Nabila Khashoggi

Spartan & The Green Egg: A Trip to the Rainforest
Written by Nabila Khashoggi
Illustrated by Manuel Cadag
Provided by author for an honest review
Goodreads Blub:

Spartan, his three friends, and his dog, Grimm, as they travel the Universe. The mission of this talented team is to gain and share knowledge of their amazing discoveries. With the power of their minds, they made contact with a race of alien explorers, who communicate with them via an egg-shaped spaceship that is itself an organic alien being. Their expeditions are made even more exciting through the use of new technology and cool gadgets, provided by their new friend, who goes by the name of Egg. In Book 1, A Trip to the Rainforest, the team’s introduction to the rainforest and all its wonders is made even more fun by the company of two native Amazonian Indians. Their extraordinary visit is not without a few close calls. After an eye-opening experience with a mysterious Shaman, their own troubles seem to pale in comparison to what they learn. The rainforest is in danger of vanishing, and all its creatures and plant life are at risk of extinction. With the help of the Green Egg’s out-of-this-world technology, the team is able to put a big dent into the path of destruction and re-new hope for the survival of the rainforest.
My Thoughts:
I thought this book was a great children's book. The colors are really bold nad bright. I like that it reads like a comic book because who doesn't like a good comic. Nabila takes readers on an adventure but also teaches something along the way which I found refreshing. Your child can keep up with Spartan and his friends on the Spartan and the Green Egg website.
I tried to post a pic of the book cover but for some reason I can't get one to load.

Review: The Brazen Bride

The Brazen Bride by Stephanie Laurens

The Black Cobra Quartet 3
Genre: Historical Romance
Rating: 5 stars

They're bold, courageous, resolute . . . ex-officers of the Crown united against a deadly traitor known only as the Black Cobra.
Shipwrecked, wounded, he risks all to pursue his mission—only to discover a partner as daring and brazen as he.
Fiery, tempestuous, a queen in her own realm, she rescues a warrior—only to find her heart under siege.
Bound by passion, linked by need, together they must brave the enemy's gauntlet to win all their hearts' desire.

My Thoughts:

What can I say this is the best book of the quartet. From the very start Stephanie had me with the characters.

Logan loses his memory when the ship he was on goes down and he bumps his head. He washes up in a cove where two children find him. Linnet the owner of the cove and the manor heals him back to health except for his memory.

After he regains his memory him and Linnet take on of her ships and sails to England. Logan ends up falling in love with her and feels like all she wants from him is someone to teach her all about sex. In the end they work it all out.

Goodreads blurb:

A second battle-hardened, completely unstoppable, all-male hero, an ex-officer of the Crown, confronts the deadly enemy known only as the Black Cobra.

He's focused on his mission, then sees a lady he never dreamed he'd see again—with an assassin on her heels.

She secretly followed him, unaware her path is deadly—or that she'll join him to battle a treacherous foe.

Through ever-present peril, through passion, desire, and ecstasy, they race to reach England—and their destiny.

My Thoughts:

I liked this book. The way she decided to go after Gareth to see if her feelings for him are real. She wants him for him and he thinks she was in love with James.

She keeps a diary with how she is feeling and her thoughts on how Gareth is acting towards her and what her thoughts are on that and their situation with the cultists. After they hook up with Gareth's bodyguards they make a copy of the copy of the letter so that if they have to give up the copy in order to survive they can turn over the scroll holder and still have a copy to try and figure out why the Black Cobra wants this letter so bad.

After Emily risks her life to save Gareth's and the bodyguards, Gareth figures out that he loves Emily and will never let her go.

The Untamed Bride
Stephanie Laurens
3 stars

Goodreads Blub:
They're battle-hardened, sinfully wealthy, completely unstoppable --- and all male: Four officers of the Crown, fighting against a deadly foe known only as the Black Cobra.

He is a man who has faced peril without flinching, determined to fight for king and country.

She is a bold, beautiful woman with a scandalous past, destined to become an untamed bride.

Together they must vanquish the ruthless enemy, while confronting the dangers of the heart ...

The Untamed Bride is the first book in the Black Cobra Quartet. The prelude was slow going but needed. It picked up when the story really started.
Del is the leader of a group of solders on a secret mission. Deliah is a neighbor who needs an escort home. Along the way home there are cultists following them trying to kill Del and Deliah in order to get the evidence that could ruin their boss the Black Cobra.
Deliah had been in Jamaica for "new horizons" but the truth was a one time affair with a young man who left her and her parents sent her off. She doesn't feel like she is the woman who could live up to someone Del could love. She is fine with being his lover but thinks she lacks what it takes to be his wife.
Del falls in love with Deliah but like most men doesn't tell her and doesn't feel like he should think of their future together until the mission is over.

It's Party Time

Well it's time to introduce myself. My name Jennifer I've been married to my wonderful husband since October 2003. Since then we have been trying (not hard) to have children but no luck so far. Adoption is our next option but we can't seem to agree on age. The "children" we do have have 4 legs and fur.
Here is the middle child, Karen. She was a stray at my husbands work and he brought her home to join the family. She likes to cuddle anytime and anywhere.
Here is the oldest, Gracie. She is referred as "The Queen", she came to live with us shortly after we got married. She only likes to be cuddled on her time and no one else's.
Finally here is Jack, he is the youngest of the children. He is a momma's boy, I can't get up or leave the room without him on my heels.

Things that I enjoy are reading, knitting, crochet and counted cross stitch. You can find all my creativity over at Heartland Stitching.
I read mostly historical romances but I'm hoping to branch out more this year. Don't get me wrong I have read other genres before. I've read all the Harry Potter books several times and I've read the Twilight series several times when I was younger I read R.L. Stine Fear Street books and Sweet Valley High books. I welcome all comments and emails.
